The interesting story of Dinakaran’s alleged middleman Sukesh Chandrasekhar

No one in Kerala’s business town Kochi can afford to forget the young man, his convoy of red-beacon cars and the gunmen in tow behind him from June 2013. As his car came to a halt, followed by a trail of several cars to a shooting spot, actor Leena Maria Paul introduced him as Dhayanidhi Alagiri, son of M.K. Alagiri, who indeed is the son of Tamil Nadu’s former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

And, four years later, young Sukesh Chandrasekhar is in news again. This time, not because he called himself Karunanidhi's grandson, but because he acted as a middleman for Sasikala's nephew T.T.V. Dinakaran. Chandrasekhar has allegedly helped AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary Dinakaran to bribe the Election Commission of India (ECI) officials to secure the frozen two leaves symbol. Chandrasekhar is alleged to have struck a deal with Dinakaran to influence the ECI officials for the same.

He is said to have accepted Rs 50 crore as bribe from Dinakaran for influencing the ECI officials. Police have also seized Rs 1.5 crore from his room in a five-star hotel in South Delhi.

Interestingly, Chandrasekhar has a colourful background.

Arrested in 2010 and again in 2013, he had honed the art of conning and was wanted by the police in four states back then. He was arrested along with his actor girlfriend Leena Maria Paul for defrauding people of crores of money. He was arrested on April 4, 2013, in Kolkata by the Delhi police.

The then Chennai Police Commissioner S George had sent his officers to Delhi to nab Chandrasekhar A luxury car lover and someone who always loved a lavish life, Chandrasekhar is a known offender who still has at least 15 FIRs pending against him.

Also known as Balaji, his tryst with conning people started at the age of 17, in 2007. Chandrasekhar had allegedly masqueraded as the grandson of Karunanidhi, as the son of former union minister T.R. Baalu, son of Karnataka minister Karunakara Reddy and as secretary of Karnataka’s former Chief Minister B.S. Yedyurrappa.

Chandrasekhar was arrested in 2009 and 2011, and was eventually released on bail with the help of Leena Maria Paul. Subsequently, in 2013, Leena was also arrested by the Delhi police for defrauding people.
