A woman, who was allegedly raped by two of her friends in March last year, has written a letter in blood to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, demanding justice.

The victim and accused—Divya Pande and Ankit Verma—were students of a private engineering college situated at Dewa Road, Lucknow. She said the duo raped her in Ankit’s flat.

The girl is resident of Rai Bareli while the accused live in Lucknow.

Both the accused were booked after an FIR was launched with the Barabanki police in the same month. The police had filed a chargesheet against the accused in September 2017. However, even after the registration of the FIR, the police did not arrest them as the High Court had given a stay on the arrest of the accused.

According to the victim's father, the accused have been threatening his daughter, asking her to withdraw the case. She decided to write the letter in blood after the police failed to initiate action against the accused even after over 10 months of the incident.

Rae Bareli ASP Shashi Shekhar confirmed that the younger sister of the victim had approached the police and complained that the accused have been tarnishing the image of the family through a fake FB account and the police have registered a fresh case in this connection. The police are looking into the complaint, he added.

The cops, however, had no information about the letter written in blood. They said the victim and her younger sister, a Class XII student, have been provided security cover.
