The Congress is yet to have their star campaigner Priyanka Vadra seeking votes for the party even as other political outfits in Uttar Pradesh have pumped up their campaigns by bringing in their star campaigners.
According to Congress sources, the party strategists have kept her away from the campaign as some seats in Amethi and Raebareli have become the bone of contention between the SP and the Congress. Congress is peeved as SP candidates in some of the seats are yet to withdraw their nominations.
Even if Priyanka campaigns, she will restrict herself to Amethi and Raebareli. Her tour to both these districts, scheduled from February 14 has been cancelled. Congress workers were informed that she would be campaigning in both these places till February 18, but the campaign tour was called off at the last minute.
Party sources indicate that she will begin campaigning only after the SP candidates withdraw their nominations from these seats. Talking in this regard are reportedly under way.
