Naseemuddin Siddiqui, the once-upon-a-time most trusted man of BSP chief Mayawati, has openly revolted and made serious allegations against her and her coterie of trusted men.

“Mayawati had asked Rs 50 crore from me, and when I expressed my inability to arrange such a huge sum, she told me to sell off my property,” Siddiqui said. “In short, she asked me to beg, borrow or steal, and somehow arrange the money.” Siddiqui was the Muslim face of the party and had been associated with it for the past 35 years. He has retaliated after Mayawati expelled him for “serious anti-party activities”.

He further alleged that an exasperated Mayawati had blamed Muslims and backward castes when the party failed to get votes in the recently-held UP Assembly polls. “When I objected, she threatened to take action against me.”

Siddiqui went on to accuse the BSP chief of demeaning her mentor, the late Kanshi Ram by saying that he took money and moved to Punjab while she struggled with UP. She had been annoyed when Siddiqui told her she was aloof and totally cut off from grassroots workers.

He also said that Mayawati did not let him visit his ailing daughter as he was her election agent when she contested the polls from Badaun. “My daughter died as she could not get proper medical treatment. Mayawati said that if I went to see my daughter, she would lose the election. On the second day, my daughter passed away.”

He dared the BSP supremo to disclose his activities that harmed the party. It is not Siddiqui alone, but others as well had openly revolted against her in the past, and accused her of minting money. Leaders such as Swami Prasad Maurya, Brijesh Pathak, and others have left the party in the past after defying her.
