BJP leader moves privilege notice against KCR

BJP floor leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly G. Kishan Reddy has moved a privilege notice against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for allegedly misleading the House on the issue of Central grants to the state government to promote sheep rearing activity.

Reddy has written a letter to Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudanachary, in which he accused the CM of committing breach of privilege by claiming on the floor of the House that the state government did not receive a single penny from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for the purpose of supplying sheep to the rural poor.

The CM made this claim on Friday, during a discussion on budget, after Kishan Reddy mentioned that the NCDC was assisting Telangana in the supply of sheep to the farmers by extending a mix of loans and grants.

“The chief minister disputed my statement and claimed that not a penny had come from the NCDC. However, it is clearly mentioned in the 2017-18 outcome budget of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Department that NCDC was extending a loan of Rs 3,000 crore and a grant of Rs 1,000 crore. Clearly, the chief minister misled the House with incorrect information,” the BJP leader said.
