Youth brigade plans new front. SP headed for another crisis?

In what appears to be an attempt by the youth brigade of Samajwadi Party (SP) to lock horns with the seniors, formation of a new front— Akhilesh Yadav Samajwadi Party—has been announced. The announcement was made by Anshul Vikram Singh, former district head of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha.

The announcement assumes significance as the new front would come up in Firozabad which is the parliamentary constituency of Akshay Yadav—son of Ramgopal Yadav who is national general secretary of the party.

The move to form a separate front is being viewed in political circles as a revolt against the state president of the party Shivpal Yadav by youth wing members who are close to Ramgopal Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

It may be recalled that in the ongoing tug of war between supporters of Akhilesh Yadav and state head Shvipal Yadav, the youth brigade has backed the chief minister and it is an open secret that Ramgopal Yadav too has extended support to the CM.

Announcing the formation of the front along with former head of Lohia Vahini Samajwadi Party Ramveer Yadav, Singh questioned changes made by the state president in the organisation and said those appointed as district level office bearers do no have faith in the leadership of the chief minister. They said the executive members of the new front would be announced soon.

Such a move at a high profile constituency is seen as detrimental to poll prospects of the party.
