At a time when the DMK MLAs under M.K. Stalin have decided to vote against Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisamy during the vote of confidence in the state assembly on Saturday, the one big question remains unanswered is that if party patriarch M. Karunanidhi will come to the house cast his vote.

With Karunanidhi, a five time chief minister, seriously ill, sources say he might not come to take part in the vote of confidence. In such a scenario, the DMK will have only 88 votes in the place of 89. The DMK, Congress and the IUML put together will have only 97 votes instead of 98 votes.

On the ruling AIADMK’s side, only 133 MLAs will go to vote, as Jayalalithaa is no more and Dhanapal is the Speaker. With at least 10 MLAs supporting O.Panneerselvam, Palanisamy is likely get close to 123 MLAs in his favour.

Although OPS camp had asked the Governor for a secret voting, the state assembly has decided to go for division voting, where the MLAs will vote block by block. There are six blocks in the house, where the MLAs will rise up voting for or against Palanisamy.
