People of Uttar Pradesh will no longer need to visit police stations to register their complaints. All they will need is a Twitter account.
The UP police has prepared a Twitter platform where a complaint can be registered by tweeting to the police account along with a photograph. This complaint will then be forwarded to concerned police stations. This service will save people from visiting the station and also save time.
The platform will be launched on Thursday by Twitter India vice president Rishi Jaitely and CEO Rahil Khurshid, along with Director General of Police Javeed Ahamed.
According to Alok Kumar Mishra, IG (public complaints), this service will be launched in the entire state, making the UP force first in the country to have this facility state-wide. Before this, Karnataka had launched a similar facility for a limited area. Similar service is being provided by some departments like railways, commerce and passport, currently.
The UP police have made comprehensive arrangements for the redressal of complaints which come through its twitter platform. The police department has prepared a special software for this purpose. Every complaint will have a separate code and these complaints will be redirected to the districts where the incident took place. A separate cell, which will track these complaints and ensure progress, has been formed at the DGP's office in Lucknow.
Districts where police solve a case quickly will be rewarded for their good work. This service was being run on trail basis for the past couple of months.
