On a Thursday when the politically turbulent Tamil Nadu remained unusually silent, a neta was made, someone who was contemplating an entry into politics in the post-Jayalalithaa era. All eyes were on the the offices of Raaj Kamal films in Alwarpet, not very far from Poes Garden. A few AAP activists wearing white Gandhi caps were seen standing outside the high rise black gates, anxiety writ large on their faces, as their party convenor Arvind Kejriwal spoke with the veteran actor Kamal Haasan.

After the hour-long meet, Kejriwal, as he walked out to address the crowded media along with Kamal Hassan, said that all like-minded people will have to work in tandem against corruption and communalism. "I am really happy to learn that a large number of people of the country are against communalism and corruption, but people rarely have the courage to speak their mind," Kejriwal said.

Kamal Haasan called it a proud moment and said that he was honoured when he learnt that the AAP leader wanted to meet him. "Arvind Kejriwal has a national profile, fighting corruption and communalism. Whoever is fighting these forces are my friends. It is a learning experience for me and there is a learning curve,” Kamal Haasan said.

Of late, Kamal Haasan has been making comments against the rulers in the state and the Centre, making his presence known through his anti-corruption statements. Recently he met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and declared that saffron was not his colour.
