The Jammu and Kashmir police came across an Uttar Pradesh terror connection when it busted a module of Lashkar-e-Taiba on Monday in the state. The cops have arrested Sandeep Kumar Sharma alias Adil, a member of Lashkar and a resident of Muzafarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. This is the second instance of a Hindu youth, who had been working as a module of a terrorist outfit, being arrested.

He is accused of killing six cops including SHO (Aachabal) Firoz Ahamad Dar, in June this year. The UP police have taken into custody Sandeep’s mother and other relatives and according to sources they are being taken to Srinagar for verification.

Meanwhile, the cops of UP Anti Terror Squad will be reaching Srinagar for investigating the alleged terrorist.

According to sources in police, Sandeep was doing petty jobs in the valley. In winters he used to migrate to Punjab. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had fallen in love with a Kashmiri girl and had changed his name from Sandeep to Adil. However, Lashkar has denied any ties with Sandeep, said cops.

Sandeep belongs to a poor family and his brother says that they did not even know that he had become a terrorist. His brother Praveen suspects that he might have been introduced to terror modules in Mumbai, as he was sent there often by his employer in Jammu. Sandeep was working with a contractor in Jammu.

This is for the second time in Kashmir related terrorism that a Hindu’s name has cropped up. In 2010, Bharat Kumar was caught by the police for his alleged links with Hizbul Mujahideen.
