FIR against Pawan Kalyan for 'insulting' national anthem

Pawan-Kalyan-pti Why political parties do not start their meetings with national anthem, asks Pawan Kalyan

Power Star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan landed in trouble after a Hyderabad-based advocate lodged a police complaint against him over his remarks on national anthem.

The actor-politician had criticised recent Supreme Court judgment making it compulsory to play national anthem before every show in cinemas.

`Why not political parties start their meetings with National Anthem. Why only cinemas? Why not the highest offices in the country? Those who preach and enforce laws - why don't they lead us by example? So they are SIGN POSTS??,' Pawan asked in a tweet on Saturday.

In another tweet, he went on to say, “A simple evening to spend time with family and friends to watch a movie has been made into a Testing Ground' to prove one's patriotism. In a veiled dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party, he said patriotism could not be seen through as one party's perspective or ideals.

In his complaint filed at Saroor Nagar police station, lawyer, S. Rajender Goud said that the actor had disrespected both the nation and the top court.

Pawan was the blue-eyed boy for the BJP-TDP alliance in the 2014 elections. However, he has taken on the Central government on several issues recently and is going at it hammer and tongs. The actor, who plans to contest the 2019 elections, launched a scathing attack on the Modi government on Sunday and said in there was nothing in special package announced for the state, except the word 'special'.

“After a decade of humiliation & insult 'Andhras' were thrown out.. without a capital and with a huge revenue deficit,” he said.
