AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi said the party will offer ticket in the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections to leaders who work among people. He was addressing a meeting organised by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee in Bengaluru.

Urging party workers to work together, reach out to people and popularise the various programmes of the Congress government in the state, Gandhi said, “You still have time. Go to people and ensure that people feel that this is their government. The state now has a strong team lead by AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal to ensure everyone works towards retaining power.”

Attacking the BJP, Gandhi said, “The BJP is trying to come to power in Karnataka. Wherever they go they make one community fight with another. In UP they won by dividing communities. Under the BJP rule dalits have been beaten up, minorities feel threatened and scared. Friends in the press are afraid to write what they want. That is the spirit of RSS and the BJP. Our job is to make people of Karnataka feel that this is their government, they are being heard. I am proud that Siddaramaiah is running the state with the Congress spirit, his ability to listen to the people and work for them.”
