A 107-year-old grandmother's birthday on Monday was made extra special when her wish was granted albeit virtually by Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
The senior citizen's grand daughter Dipali Sikand tweeted a picture of her grandmother cutting her birthday cake and wrote, “Today my grandmother turned 107. Her one wish. To meet @OfficeOfRG Rahul Gandhi!”
She also tweeted in the message she asked her grandmother why she wanted to meet the Congress leader. “She whispers... He's handsome!”
Rahul responded, asking Dipali to wish her “beautiful grandmother” a very happy birthday and a merry Christmas. He also sent a virtual hug the grand old lady's way. “Please also give her a big hug from me.”
Dipali replied saying Rahul had made her grandmother's day and she is grinning away.
Rahul's gesture on Twitter was admired by many. “That is so sweet of you... yes, she is gorgeous girl at 107” wrote K. Padma Rani. “Wow... This is in the true spirit of the festive season:)” tweeted Scotchy.
There were some tongue-in-cheek tweets also. A twitter user going by the name of Ram Jethmalani wrote: “Bhai kabhi ham logo ko bhi reply de diya karo kab se troll kar rahe hai”.
