As many as 101 events will be held across the country around the eighth Brazil Russia India China South Africa (BRICS) summit to be held in Goa in October.
While most of these events will be held in Goa, there are related events being organised across the country.
Khajuraho, for instance, will host the convention on tourism a month ahead of the meet. There will also be a BRICS film festival and an under-17 football championship.
Meanwhile, China's foreign minister Wang Yi, on a three day visit to India, arrived in Goa on Thursday to discuss preparations for the BRICS meet. The request to visit Goa appears rather odd, but Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the request was made by the Chinese government and that “We see nothing wrong with it. Goa is a lovely place to visit."
