After making his mark in the Indian political scene, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla, is now all set to woo people with his acting skill.

The BJP leader will be essaying the role of Nishadaraj in one of the country's biggest and most popular Luv Kush Ramleela this year. The nearly four-decade-old extravaganza will be held in the national capital between September 21 and October 1.

“This is the first time in my life that I will work as an artist apart from a politician, I am glad to be a part of Delhi’s biggest Ramleela. I am sure it will be a great journey,” Sampla, a member of Parliament from Hoshiarpur, said.

The character Nishadaraj is part of the epic Ramayana. He was the tribal king of Kevati, which was situated on the banks of Ganga. It is believed that when Lord Rama went into exile for 14 years with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman, minister Sumantra brought them till the banks of Ganga on his chariot. Here, Rama met Nishadaraj, who offered them his help in all possible ways.

At the end of 14 years, when Rama was returning to Ayodhya from the forest, he did not forget to meet his friend Nishadaraj. He was also invited to the coronation ceremony of King Rama. It is this association of Nishadaraj with Rama which makes him a character that always leaves audience's overwhelmed.

Apart from Sampla, actor and BJP Delhi President Manoj Tiwari, will play the role of Angad. Besides, the show will be studded with Bollywood stars like Asrani, Aman Verma, Anupam Shyam Ojha, Prerna Trivedi etc.
