Actor and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman, and four other Indians, did the country proud when all of them finished one of the world's toughest endurance challenges—Ultraman Florida—in February. While Kaustubh Radkar from Pune was the fastest among the five, Soman caught everyone's attention for running barefoot.

Ultraman is considered to be one of the most challenging triathlons in the world. The three-day race involves an 84km run, a 423km bike ride and 10km open water swimming. Obviously, it requires tremendous strength and stamina.

Wondering what Soman ate during those three days? Did he eat meat and eggs to improve stamina?

"I did eat eggs but no meat," says Soman. "Every day was slightly different but included eggs, soup, oranges, peanut butter sandwiches, raggi porridge and cold coffee," smiles the 51-year-old.

Soman doesn't believe in quick fixes for energy boost. He generally prefers simple food. "I have a lot of fruits. I eat a whole watermelon, papaya and a wide variety of fruits for breakfast. If it's mango season, I eat four or five mangoes,” he says.

Soman reminds you of the always hungry teenager. He keeps on munching throughout the day. “If I find something I like, I have it. Of course I have my breakfast, lunch and dinner. But, in between, I'm constantly eating. I eat nuts, seeds, masala dosa, sandwiches and snack bars. However, I make sure the choices I make are healthy. I don't eat food that I know is not good for me, physically, emotionally or mentally," says Soman.

He believes food affects the way you think and feel. "So, it is important to choose the right kind of food to eat so that you are always feeling great," adds Soman.
