In another incident, second of its kind in less than a week that brought shame to Gujarat, a compounder of a private hospital has been arrested for allegedly molesting a young dengue patient.
The girl, a class XII student, was admitted to Tapan Hospital in Anandnagar area of Ahemdabad on Saturday. According to reports, the compounder came and measured her temperature past midnight on Monday after she complained of fever. He returned after two hours and allegedly tried to molest her.
The girl made noise, following which her father, who was sitting outside, rushed to her along with other patients and hospital staff. Police arrested 26-year-old Ghanshyam who has been working with the hospital for about two years.
Four days ago, a doctor at the Apollo Hospital was arrested for allegedly raping a 21-year-old girl who was undergoing treatment for dengue in the ICU. The doctor, Ramesh Chauhan, 28, was arrested along with a ward boy who was accused of taking part in the crime.
The girl had told the police that she was drugged and was not able to narrate the incident immediately to her uncle. According to sources, the doctor is a Pakistani national and is in India on a work permit.
