In yet another case of sexual harassment aboard flight, an India-born man has been arrested in the US.
Prabhu Ramamoorthy, 34, who was traveling from Las Vegas to Detroit on a Spirit Airlines flight on Tuesday night has been accused of sexual assault by a female passenger who sat next to him in the window seat.
The woman said that as she woke up, her shirt and trouser buttons were undone. To her shock, she saw the Ramamoorthy's hand resting in her trousers.
Ramamoorthy, who lives in the US on temporary, visa told the police that he had taken some tablet and was fast asleep. His wife who was sitting next to him in the aisle seat said the complainant had been sleeping with her head on her husband's knees.
Ramamoorthy, who was produced in a federal court in Michigan on Friday, was denied bail.
The flight attendants told the investigators that the complainant was in tears when she came to them following the incident. She asked them if she could move to some other seat and was given the back seat.
Ramamoorthy's wife claimed that they had asked a flight attendant to move the woman out of the seat next to them. But according to the airline, only the victim asked for a seat change.
