The 140-days long economic blockade led by United Naga Council will be lifted from Sunday night. The decision was announced by Naga leaders in a statement, five days after the BJP-led coalition assumed power in the state for the first time.
"We have full faith in the present government. They are going to reverse the decision of bifurcation of Naga dominated districts," said P. David, a UNC leader.
The new government has Naga People Front, which is the political front of UNC, as a constituent.
BJP said it would definitely consider reversing the decision.
"Yes. That was a politically motivated decision. Our government will set up a committee to look into the mater of drawing boundary within the state," said a BJP leader.
However, the Congress warned the government against taking any move in this regard.
"It would be a very unfortunate decision if they succumb to the people who reign terror," said Congress leader Debadatta Singh.
