It is carrots and sticks from Punjab Congress President Capt. Amarinder Singh for Congressmen who filed their nominations after being denied party tickets.
The PPCC president who has been tasked with dealing with rebellion by those who were denied tickets reported made phone calls directly to some and sent emissaries to others. His message to them was simple. You keep out, support the party, we win and you get adjusted in one of the many lucrative posts. If you don't, we still will win and the party will simultaneously take action against you.
"He (Singh) is a senior leader. He can persuade, tempt and admonish. He is doing all that,"said sources in his media office. Publicly, however, he has urged them to withdraw their nominations and support the party in order to form the government.
