Tej Bahadur Yadav, the BSF soldier who had complained against mistreatment by seniors and sub-standard food on social media, has been dismissed from service.

Yadav, who belonged to the 9th battalion, was recently attached with another battalion for deriding his seniors.

His dismissal was ordered by Summary Security Force Court (SSFC) for “an act prejudicial to good order and discipline."

BSF spokesman Dharmendra Parekh said SSFC was conducted against Yadav under provision of BSF Act and Rules.

He said Yadav had made “false allegations on social media regarding quality of food and violated the procedure of formal grievance redressal mechanism’’.

Yadav had uploaded on social media a video shot at Line of Control in the Valley, in which he complained against sub standard food served to BSF jawans.

The video had prompted Home Minister Rajnath Singh to order an inquiry into his allegations after the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) sought a report. After more such videos surfaced, SSFC was ordered against Yadav.

BSF spokesman said Yadav violated service rules by carrying two mobile phones while on operational duty.

Besides, he also posted photographs in uniform on social media in contravention of instructions, he said.

“The individual was found guilty of all the charges and awarded dismissal from service,” he said.

The BSF Act and Rules allow Yadav to submit a petition/ appeal against the punishment before the “higher HQ (headquarters) within three months”.

His plea for voluntary retirement on January 31 was earlier turned down. Now, with his dismissal, he will not be entitled to pensionary benefits.
