After her power-packed performance in Pink, actor Taapsee Pannu has garnered a lot of attention. Her stunning portrayal of Delhi girl Meenal Arora threw open a debate and put new light on the often-ignored truth about a woman's 'consent'. The actor will now be seen in Naam Shabana in which she plays a secret agent. Still basking in the glory of Pink, the actor did not have it easy in the early days of her career. In a touching Facebook post on Humans of Bombay, the actor recently opened about how she has been a fighter.

Talking about her first acting project, she said it was an organic process. She had started modelling during her college days to make some extra pocket money. “I had scored 88% in my CAT exams and was enroute to pursuing my MBA when I got an offer for a film,” she said on Facebook.

From there on, it has been tough for Taapsee. When three of her movies failed to work, she was given the label of 'iron leg'. “I was ‘rumoured’ to bring bad luck to films. Mind you, all of these films had huge male co-stars and directors, but the failure of movies was blamed upon my bad luck,” she said. She was asked to reduce her pay, and often thrown out of movies citing that the producer was going through financial crisis.

All this was before the release of Pink. But surprisingly, even after the immense success of Pink, the stigma still lurks around. “Actors have refused to work with me in Bollywood, because I’m not an ‘A list actress’. Producers have finalised me, locked my dates and then randomly backed out at the last minute because they got a bigger name,” she said. Forget equal pay, even getting paid the basic amount is something that has to be fought for.

But none of these, she said, will change her love for acting. She is her because of this love, she wrote. She hates self pity and enjoys being strong and independent. And that's why Taapsee calls herself the 'hero' of her story.

The actor's post has gone viral on social media with 39,000 reactions, and over 1,700 shares.
