West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, on Friday, lauded former prime minister Manmohan Singh. The praise comes almost eight years after she walked out of the UPA-2 government.
“I am a layman. I don’t understand finance and economy. But even a man like Manmohan Singh — who is so knowledgeable — compared demonetisation to plunder and loot. What else would I have to say about that,” said Mamata.
Reiterating her stand against BJP, Mamata said she would oppose the BJP government tooth and nail and was not scared of the CBI.
However, for the first time, she refrained from abusing Modi by name.
She was at Bhawanipur in Kolkata, inaugurating a water pumping station.
She asked the Congress to introspect why it was in such a bad shape in India.
“It’s because of them that BJP has gained in the country. They have to know how to run the country. They seemed to have forgotten that,” said Mamata.
