Karnataka's higher education minister Basavaraj Raya Reddy, on Friday, dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give up his security cover. But what came as a shocker were the comments that followed.
“Modi removed red beacons. Let him also give up his security cover. I am ready to give up mine. If there is any threat to his life, let him die. If one wants to be in power, he should also be ready to die. Else, let him sit at home,” said Raya Reddy.
Enraged by the remarks, BJP leaders dubbed the minister as “mentally unstable” and demanded that the minister be immediately dropped from the cabinet for his “irresponsible” statement.
BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa said, “Being a minister, he has bad-mouthed the prime minister of the country and dared him to give up security cover. This is not only condemnable but smacks of ill-intent too. Reddy should be dropped from the cabinet immediately and he should apologise to the people of the country.”
