The Ministry of Electronics and IT has started a new campaign to promote cashless transactions. The campaign called Digi Dhan Abhiyan will enable every citizen, small trader and merchant to promote digital payment in their every day financial transactions. Under the Digi Dhan campaign, the ministry has launched a free to air channel called DigiShala, which will impart information in rural and semi urban areas on digital payment ecosystem. DigiShala will be broadcast nationally on DD free DTH service. The potential viewership of the channel will be more than 2 crore across the country.

DigiShala will educate people through step-by-step demo of making digital payments using UPI, USSD, Aadhar enabled payment systems, e-wallets, cards etc. There will also be talk shows and panel discussion with experts.

"The journey from paathshala to digishala is a sign of changing India. Digital payment is honest, accountable and transparent and will widen our tax base which is currently very narrow. We will also involve 1,75,000 common service centres to promote and educate people about cashless transactions," said Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Communications & IT and Law and justice.

The ministry has also launched a new website -- cashlessindia.gov.in -- to promote awareness about digital transactions. The website will be a repository of information on different initiatives in digital payment methods.
