It is expected that around 18 lakhs jobs will get registered for digital marketing roles by the end of 2020 as companies are in dire need for skilled digital marketers to beat competition in the market. Experts say that India’s internet population has crossed over 465 million in 2017 and as a result, digital marketing is finding takers in the Indian market where businessmen as well as young workforce have understood the need and requirement to analyse the working and psychology of online consumers. At the same time, they are getting skilled through digital marketing training to score over their competitors and earn potential clients.

Experts such as Vaibhav Vats, the co-founder of Digiperform, a Gurugram based digital marketing training company that was founded in 2014, feels that India's young population is already smart enough, gearing up to be a part of this trend and many of them are getting trained and certified for enhancing their skill sets in the field of digital marketing. Apparently, Digiperform has trained more than 10,000 trainees in digital marketing and claims to have placed them in renowned companies as well.

“The love for internet and the desire to learn are the basics that anyone needs to follow to accomplish the desired position in this digital marketing industry. One needs to learn and understand the basic concepts of digital marketing under the supervision of industry trained experts and get certified by the reputed digital marketing training companies,” Vats told THE WEEK.

He explained that digital marketing training is not specific to any particular field and since digitisation is at its peak and each industry is overwhelmed by the same. “Generally, we categorise our trainees into three segments – working professionals, business owners, and fresh graduates, which are further divided into personas based on learning objective. We have trainees from different backgrounds such as students, college passouts, working professionals, startup owners, wannabe entrepreneurs, housewives and we have been imparting all kinds of industrial exposure to each and everyone. Based on the interest or specialisation, trainees get a wide range of career options which can solely depend on the area of interest, for instance a person can become a digital marketing specialist, social media marketing specialist, search engine specialist, email marketing specialist or a campaign specialist,” remarked Vats.

The company works on a hybrid training model that is a mix of classroom, online and virtual systems of learning. It has over 50 digital marketing training programs. The platform offers a digital marketing certificate course including Google Adwords Certification Program, E-Commerce Marketing, Search Engine Optimisation and Social Media Marketing . The company has included entrepreneurs, subject experts, and skilled executives who have hands-on experience of working in the digital industry as its trainers.

Interestingly, this company founded by Manu Jolly and Vaibhav Vats has customers from Microsoft, Wunderman, Airtel, HCL, ICICI Bank and Snapdeal among many others and works on a franchisee model across India in cities like Allahabad, Lucknow, Surat, Pune, Jaipur and Kolkata. The company is now planning to expand across other Indian cities like Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Patna, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai (adding more centres), Pondicherry and Chennai.
