Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed shock over the sudden demise of an IAS officer in Lucknow who was serving in Karnataka.

"Shocked to learn about the unfortunate demise of Karnataka's IAS officer in Lucknow. My condolences to his family. Have deputed a senior officer to Lucknow to monitor situation,” he tweeted.

Anurag Tiwari had served as revenue assistant commissioner of Madhugiri subdivision in Tumakuru district, administrator of Tumakuru civic body and deputy commissioner of Tumakuru district. The 2007 batch IAS officer also served as assistant commissioner of Madhugiri, deputy commissioner of Kodagu and deputy secretary (finance) in Bengaluru. In June 2015, he was posted as deputy commissioner of Bidar district. Recently, he was posted as commissioner of food and civil supplies.

Udupi-Chikmagluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, in a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expressed shock over the death of the officer under “suspicious circumstances” and emphasised that the “tragedy warrants a thorough probe” to bring out the truth.

“It is incomprehensible to think that an IAS officer could be found dead on the roadside. What makes the tragic event murkier is the media reporting that the deceased had a fight with his wife even before the probe has commenced. I strongly feel there is more to it than meets the eye...I request you to look into the matter and and direct the concerned to treat the case with utmost importance and urgency,” she said.
