Samsung aims to tap 4G market in India with Galaxy J2

Samsung aims to capture the 4G market in India with the launch of its Galaxy J2, an affordable 4G LTE smartphone. The device, which is 8.4mm thin, will be available from September 21 across all channels at Rs 8,490.

With the intention of wooing the data-conscious Indian users, the company has developed an India-centric feature – Ultra Data Saving Mode – which will also help free up to 11 per cent of RAM. Besides, it has up to 2X battery standby time.

The electronics major also aims to address some key Indian consumer requirements which include a rich and immersive display, cost-efficient internet experience and enhanced performance. To meet these demands, Samsung has equipped Galaxy J2 with a QHD Super AMOLED screen and a .3 GHz Quad Core processor.

"There is a large scope for smartphones in India in the future and Samsung Galaxy J2, our entry level smartphone, has been specially made to make 4G accessible to Indian consumers. The Ultra Data Saving Mode, which is one of the key features of the device, has been developed by our Indian R&D team,” Asim Warsi, vice president, Marketing, IT and Mobile at Samsung India, said during the national launch of the device in Bengaluru.

The device also features a Download Booster that combines 4G speeds with WiFi speeds to deliver faster than 4G downloads. It has a 5 mega pixel rear camera and a 2 mega pixel front camera.
