BJP president Amit Shah on Friday held a series of meetings with Madhya Pradesh BJP leaders to review the organisations preparation for the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
Amit Shah arrived at Bhopal on a two day visit after he missed his flight last evening due to a high-level meeting of ministers in connection with preparation of 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Shah has been on a 110-day nationwide tour of the states across the country for last six months. He has visited 19 state capitals to review the preparation of polls.
Despite his uneasy relationship with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Shah has been given an unprecedented welcome in the state capital. The entire state cabinet was waiting at the airport last night to receive Amit Shah only to be informed late at night that he will come only in the morning. Shah missed his flight due to hectic meetings. Later, the chartered plane, which he was supposed to come, developed a snag.
The entire Bhopal town has been decorated with huge hoardings, banners and posters of the prime minister, chief minister and Amit Shah. The state BJP headquarters, too, have been renovated to give a corporate look to the building. A glass facade has been specially erected at the main entrance.
Chouhan personally oversaw the arrangements of Shah’s stay and meeting venues. Shah is scheduled to hold more than a dozen meetings during his 72 hours stay in the state. He will be meeting all the MLAs, MPs, elected representatives of local bodies, chiefs of various frontal organisations. He also met senior editors and journalists at the house of Irrigation Minister Narottam Mishra over lunch.
Shah was accompanied by cabinet ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, party general secretary Kailash Vijayavargiya and party vice president Prabhat Jha. He inaugurated a statue of BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya on way from airport to the BJP office.
