"Who is the chief minister of Maharashtra?"
"Today, yesterday or the day before? Because there is a change every day you see!"
These lines may look as if they are from a meme about the latest political developments in Maharashtra. But they are not. These are lines from a 1980 Kollywood movie Varumayin Niram Sivappu, starring Kamal Haasan in the lead.
In clip from the movie that is being shared by the fans of the actor and others, the actor is seen being asked who is the chief minister of Maharashtra. Haasan's character comes up with an answer that may very well describe the political uncertainty that has been prevailing in Maharashtra.
Whatte timing! #KamalHaasan's prediction comes right yet again wrt to current political crisis in #Maharashtra. Scene from the 1980 movie - Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu. #MaharashtraPolitics pic.twitter.com/OTaFimelSF

It is certainly a coincidence, but one cannot argue with the fact that the answer does reflect the current political scenario in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra has been witnessing dramatic political developments ever since the assembly election results were out. The Shiv Sena, which parted ways with the BJP over power sharing issues, formed an alliance with the Congress and NCP and was expected to stake claim to form government. However, in a dramatic turn of events, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari as the chief minister early on Saturday morning with the support of NCP's Ajit Pawar. He lasted only three days as the chief minister as Ajit Pawar pulled the plug on him, and resigned as deputy chief minister, forcing Fadnavis to resign.
On Tuesday, the NCP declared that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray would be the next chief minister of Maharashtra with the support of NCP and the Congress.
