September 22: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa admitted at Apollo hospital after she complained of fever and dehydration

September 24: A press release from the hospital says that the AIADMK chief is still “under observation” and has “normal diet”. But, no word on when she would be discharged.

September 30: A medical bulletin claims she has responded well to treatment and that the AIADMK chief is still “under observation” and has “normal diet”.

October 1: A specialist doctor from the UK, Richard John Beale reportedly examines Jayalalitthaa. No official statement from either the state government or from the Apollo Hospitals. Miscreants vandalise Jaya's wiki page, adds death column.

October 3: Social activist Traffic Ramaswamy files a petition in Madras High Court seeking detailed report on the health condition of the Chief Minister. An AIADMK worker, upset over rumours about Jayalalithaa's health, commits suicide. The hospital, in a press statement, maintains that the chief minister's condition was improving. “The treatment plan including appropriate antibiotics, respiratory support and other allied clinical measures are presently being continued to treat the infection.”

October 4: Madras HC directs Tamil Nadu's additional advocate general to seek information from the government on Chief Minister's health.

October 6: Medical team from AIIMS, including pulmonologist Khilnani, cardiologist Nitish Naik and anaesthetist Anjan Trikha , set to examine the chief minister. Jaya's disowned son VN Sudhakaran reportedly denied entry at Apollo.

October 11: TN Guv allocates Jaya's portfolios to finance minister O Panneerselvam.

October 12: AIADMK spokesperson C.R.Saraswathy claims that the chief minister was conscious and reading newspapers. BJP leaders Amit Shah and Arun Jaitley visit the hospital.

October 19: A retail shop owner is arrested by Tamil Nadu police for spreading rumours about Jaya's health, the eighth to be arrested on similar charges. According to newspaper reports, Jayalalithaa spoke with Dr Richard Beale and thanked him for his treatment.

October 22: Praying for the speedy recovery of Jaya, her loyalists offers gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1.61 crore to the Ganesha and Hanuman idols at the Chamundeshwari temple. In his second visit to the hospital in October, governor Vidyasagar Rao visits Apollo Hospital where Jayalalithaa is undergoing treatment, and was happy to note that she was "progressing well".

October 29: Jaya affixes left thumb print on election documents of AIADMK party candidate for the upcoming bypolls.

November 4: Apollo chairman Pratap Reddy informs the media that Jayalalithaa has completely recovered and that she could soon decide when she wanted to go back home. According to AIADMK spokesperson Ponnaiyan, Jaya would soon be moved from the critical care care unit (CCU) to a private room.

December 4: Jaya suffers from cardiac arrest late in the evening and her health condition deteriorates.
