Addressing mediapersons on Tuesday, Tamil Nadu ex-chief secretary Rama Mohana Rao alleged that there was a political vendetta behind the recent raids carried out by central agencies in Tamil Nadu.

"They have found nothing. No incriminate documents were found. There was no secret chamber; it is a store room. They found Rs 1,12,320 in my house, gold that belongs to my wife & daughter, and silver articles and ornaments of gold around 20-25 kg" he said.

"CRPF entered my house. They showed me the search warrant, my name was not there. It was under my son's name. Where is the state government? What role or business does GoI,CRPF have to enter the chief secretary's chamber? Did they get CM's permission? I was under house arrest. It is an unconstitutional assault, as I am still the chief secretary of Tamil Nadu," said a visibly irate Rao.

"If they wanted to search my house, they could have transferred me. How much time does it take for a CM to transfer a chief secretary? If madam (Jaya) had been alive, would this have happened in Tamil Nadu? What about people's security?"

Income Tax (I-T) department officials, in the previous week, had raided the house of Tamil Nadu chief secretary P. Rama Mohana Rao.

The officials claimed to have recovered Rs 30 lakh cash in new currency notes and 5 kgs of gold besides getting "disclosure" about Rs 5 crore of unaccounted income.

The searches of Rao's residence and office were linked to the earlier IT raids on the residence of businessmen J. Shekhar Reddy, Srinivasalu and Prem.
