WATCH: Saini shows ‘bit of teamwork’, peels banana for injured Jadeja

Jadeja had injured his thumb on the third of the Test in Sydney

Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, who dislocated his thumb during the third Test against Australia in Sydney, was clearly in pain when he sustained the injury. However, the all-rounder was padded-up to bat in the last session on the final day even as Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari led India’s resistance.

In the meantime, Navdeep Saini was showing a “bit of teamwork” by helping out his teammate as Jadeja picked a banana to eat but couldn’t peel it because of his injury. In a clip shared by 7Cricket, the official account of Australia’s Channel 7 that covers cricket, the fast bowler is seen taking the banana from Jadeja and peeling it for him.

“A bit of teamwork, Saini peeling the banana for Jadeja,” the tweet read.

Jadeja, meanwhile, has been ruled out of the first two matches in the upcoming series against England due to the injury to his thumb. PTI quoted a BCCI official as saying that Jadeja will need “4-6 weeks minimum to recuperate and complete rehab”.

A Mitchell Starc-delivery hit Jadeja on the gloves on the third day of the Sydney Test, and he required medical attention. He refrained from bowling during Australia’s second innings though he was back in the field. Following medical scans, it was revealed later that he had a dislocated thumb.

The four-Test series against England will begin in Chennai from February 5.
