Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are among the men's players who are heading the FIFA Best Awards nominations, which was released on Wednesday. The FIFA Best Awards will be presented in Milan on September 23.
Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Lionel Messi also made it to the shortlist for the men's award. Ronaldo won the award in 2016 and 2017.
Paris St Germain's Kylian Mbappe, Tottenham's Harry Kane and Belgian Eden Hazard are also in run.
In the women's category, Alex Morgan of team USA and coach Jill Ellis have been nominated for the female player and women's coach awards respectively following the USA's Women's World Cup win in France.
Liverpool Jurgen Klopp, along with Manchester City's Pep Guardiola and Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino, has been nominated for coach of the year. Liverpool won the Champions League in the last season and also ended in the second position in the Premier League.
The FIFA Best Awards recognise the best players of the last season. It was previously called FIFA World Player of the Year award and was later renamed the FIFA Ballon d'Or in 2010 and The Best in 2016.
