An Indian Army trooper sustained minor injuries in an exchange of fire after a suspicious movement was noticed near Nagrota Military Station on Saturday night.

A search operation is underway to track down the intruder, the army's Jammu-based White Knight Corps said in a post on X.

“On noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, alert sentry at Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. Sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s),” it said.

Police have advised people to report any suspicious movement for proper verification. They have also warned against uploading and forwarding unverified messages about presence of terrorists on social media.

A police spokesman termed as baseless reports claiming the presence of terrorists in the R S Pura sector on the outskirts of Jammu.
