One person was killed after a crude bomb was thrown from a flyover onto the road by miscreants in Dhaka on Wednesday evening, as the crisis deepens in violence-hit Bangladesh.

According to media reports, the incident occurred in front of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command in the Mogbazar Mor area around 7 p.m. (local time).

The deceased has been identified as Siam, 21, an employee of Zahid Car Decoration in Mogbazar, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

Masud Alam, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Ramna Division), said the explosive appeared to have fallen directly on Siam, causing him to die at the scene.

Siam was reportedly walking along the road to buy snacks from a shop when the bomb exploded.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.

The incident occurred amid an uneasy calm in the country after days of violence triggered by the killing of prominent youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi.

The Inqilab Mancha spokesperson died at a Singapore hospital on Thursday, days after he was shot in the head.

The protests and violence escalated further with the killing of a Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das, who was lynched to death by a mob and his body set on fire over alleged blasphemy in Baluka, Mymensingh last week.
