'Perverted depraved monkeys': Mahua Moitra slams Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh over 'bermuda' remark

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh found himself on the receiving end of the wrath of TMC leaders over a distasteful comment he made at an election rally in Purulia, ridiculing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Attacking the chief minister for highlighting her leg injury at her election rallies, the West Bengal BJP chief had said she is displaying her leg everywhere. "She is dressed in a saree but one of her legs is exposed. I have never seen anyone drape a saree like that. If you want to display your legs, why a saree, wear a pair of bermudas so everyone can have a good look," NDTV had quoted Ghosh as saying.

Banerjee has been moving around on a wheelchair at election campaigns. The TMC chief, after filing her nomination in Nandigram on March 10, had suffered severe injuries on her left leg, hips, arm, neck and shoulder during electioneering as she was allegedly pushed to the ground by miscreants. TMC leaders have claimed that BJP men orchestrated the attack, a charge denied by the saffron camp.

Slamming Ghosh for his unsavoury remarks, Moitra, in a tweet said, "BJP WB Pres asks in public meeting why Mamatadi is wearing a saree, she should be wearing “Bermuda” shorts to display her leg better."

"And these perverted depraved monkeys think they are going to win Bengal?" she added.

Sharing a video in which Ghosh is heard making the remark on Twitter, TMC's Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said the state BJP chief has "conveniently crossed all limits."

"It now appears that the role of @BJP4Bengal State President has been merely reduced to that of venom-spitting. From scathing attacks towards the CM of Bengal to violence towards @AITCofficial workers - he has conveniently crossed all limits. Shocking words, once again!," she wrote.
