In a bid to avoid the media glare and any security issues, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra moved to her Gurgaon penthouse late on Friday night. Though allowed to retain her previous Lodhi Estate bungalow till July-end, Priyanka shifted to DLF Aralia in Sector 42 of Gurgaon, escorted by her own Z+ security personnel and a team of Sushant Lok police.

Alerted almost an hour before her arrival, the residential society, which is known to have one of the best security arrangements in the NCR, stepped up security. The CCTV footage that recorded her entry and eventual exit from the society on Saturday morning is heavily guarded and strict instructions have been issued to the staff and residents barring sharing of any visuals pertaining to the same.

“We had no official information about her shifting or any request of security cover. However as per the protocol, the team of the local police station was deputed to oversee the security arrangements. The team is still there. The society has been put on the list of high-security sensitive areas,” a senior police officer told THE WEEK.

The penthouse for Priyanka has an exclusive lift and swimming pool and was reportedly bought by her husband, Robert Vadra, for a whopping Rs 11 crore. The value has almost doubled now. Meanwhile, the bigwigs of the Haryana Congress in Gurgaon are expected to visit the house on Saturday evening though sources close to Priyanka Gandhi have revealed that she will not indulge in any political meetings and activities from the current premises. She will be using the residence of her mother, Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi, for all her political endeavours.
