Asked to vacate her Lodhi Estate bungalow by July 31, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be shifting to Gurgaon.

Priyanka is expected to move by next week to DLF Aralia in Sector 42, considered one of the poshest housing societies in Gurgaon. Priyanka has already shifted all her household goods to Gurgaon and CRPF has also conducted a security audit and given a go-ahead to choosing the property.

While the shift to Gurgaon had been under wraps, a security review by officials on Wednesday caused a flutter that she would be moving soon. Priyanka enjoys ‘Z +’ category protection. Looking for houses in Delhi, Priyanka is believed to have zeroed in one, but it needs renovation and re-styling, and this will take nearly two months. Till this is ready, Priyanka shall be shifting base to Gurgaon, though all political activities will be handled from the official residence of her mother, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

The residential society in Gurgaon has meanwhile beefed up its security arrangements, virtually fortifying itself. The local police too have put this society on Golf Course Road on top of its list of top-priority sensitive areas. The news of Priyanka shifting to Gurgaon has led to an overnight surge in rental and property prices.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was allotted 35 Lodhi Estate in New Delhi when she got SPG security in 1997. However, last year, the SPG security was removed and her security level was categorised to Z+, making her ineligible for a bungalow. While senior Congress leaders decried the eviction notice, Priyanka has not commented on it and neither applied for an extension.
