Noted Canadian writer and columnist Tarek Fatah stirred a controversy on Friday when he said Prophet Muhammad was against cow slaughter. He also said that Muhammad had specifically asked Muslims not to eat beef.
Tarek said on micro-blogging site, Twitter, that Prophet Muhamad had never eaten beef and that he had told Muslims to only drink the cow milk.

When a user pointed out that the Prophet had only advised that consumption of bovine meat causes sickness but had never forbidden people from eating it, Tarek said he was amazed at Indian Muslims' lack of wisdom. “(They) Admit that Prophet said beef causes illness, yet eat it to spite Hindus,” he said.
