Educational institutions in Madhya Pradesh have been asked to display the pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi prominently on their premises.

According to media reports, Higher Education Minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya has directed all government schools and colleges in the state to put up pictures of the PM, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhimrao Ambedkar, Swami Vivekananda and President Pranab Mukherjee. The education institutions have been warned that they would face disciplinary action if they fail to comply with the order.

Schools and colleges in the state have been asked to collect the portraits of these five personalities from Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s photo department in Delhi.

The move has attracted criticism from the Opposition which claimed that the diktat has been made under the influence of the RSS. Slamming the directive, the Congress said the BJP is doing this to promote the ideology of Swami Vivekananda which goes along with that of the RSS.

Social activists too have come out against the government order questioning the logic behind installing the portraits of Swami Vivekananda who was a religious philosopher.
