Cisco Chairman calls on PM Modi, discuss Make in India

John Chambers, Chairman of US tech giant Cisco, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday where several initiatives by the latter including Make in India and Start-up India were discussed.

During the meeting, Chambers explained to Modi the elements of Cisco's Country Digitization Acceleration Programme, and how it is aligned to the Prime Minister's vision and initiatives including Digital India, Skill India, Make in India, Start-up India, Smart Cities and Cyber Security initiatives.

Modi appreciated this initiative of Cisco and emphasised its benefits in areas such as long distance education.

He said use of digital technology has been useful in eliminating leakages in subsidy.

Modi also discussed possibilities of cooperation in the area of cyber security with Chambers.
