Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Tuesday that Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, was the reason behind the delay in the eye examination of the former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party founder. He dismissed what he called "baseless propaganda" regarding Khan's health.
Naqvi detailed the meeting between the doctors who examined the PTI founder in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail and Imran’s medical team and PTI leaders, during a press conference in Lahore. He said that the party leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress made with the treatment after they received a 45-minute briefing on the treatment.
“His (Imran's) doctors said, ‘excellent! Had we done the treatment, we would have done the same. Political leaders said, ‘we are satisfied, and we will tell our people about this,” Naqvi said.
He also rejected claims that Imran Khan lost 85 per cent of vision in his right eye.
Naqvi also said he asked the medical team if they wanted to conduct further tests, and that they responded that all possible tests had been conducted.
“But all I can tell you is that Aleema Khan sahiba told her party that if we accept this, the issue will die down. Due to her, the medical check-up could not be conducted for three days,” he said.
The minister said that on one hand they are very close and onthe other they politicised the issue, which led to the three-day delay in the check-up.
Khan was taken to the Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital for a medical check-up earlier this week after he developed a blood clot in his right eye which led to a "partial loss of vision".
