Australian weather forecasters reportedly predict Tropical Cyclone Alfred will make landfall on Thursday or Friday somewhere between Bundaberg and northern New South Wales (NSW). However, agencies have warned that it is common for the predicted path of a cyclone to alter by the time it reaches the coast. Reports of panic buying were coming in from Queensland after authorities told people to start preparing for harsh weather.

1. All ferry services in Brisbane will be suspended from Monday night until further notice. The objective of the authorities is to move vessels to safety well ahead of Tropical Cyclone Alfred's landfall. However, all other means of the city’s public transport system will remain operational.
2. High tides, flash flooding, "dangerously" high winds and intense rainfall are all expected in the coming days, making travel by boats on the Brisbane River dangerous, people have been warned.

3. According to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, the path, intensity and speed of the tropical cyclone will determine when and where the heaviest rainfall will occur. Damagingly strong winds, capable of bringing down fully-grown trees, are also part of the equation, the agency warned. Gale-force winds of up to 63 kmph – gusting in excess of 90 kmph – are expected from Wednesday evening.
4. Rainfall and wind will intensify in New South Wales on Wednesday. There will be no respite as the showers are expected to get stronger by Thursday. However, the worst will come when Tropical Cyclone Alfred makes landfall and will remain the same till Saturday, news.com.au reported. A daily rainfall totals between 200-400mm are expected on these rains, the report added.
5. The Bureau of Meteorology said Alfred is currently moving southeast but is expected to slow down and turn west, towards the southeast Queensland coast on Tuesday and may intensify to Category 2 tonight.
