Former United States President Donald Trump is gearing to surrender to Georgia authorities in connection with the alleged overturning 2020 election case on Thursday. Trump has announced his plans of surrendering, at Fulton County sheriff’s office, through his social media platform.
"Can you believe it? I'll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis," Trump wrote on his social media network on Monday night.
Trump was accused of illegally scheming to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state.
The decision was made after his lawyers met with the Fulton County district attorney's office and agreed to a bond of $2,00,000.
Trump is the first former US president to face indictment and this will be his fourth arrest since April.
However, Trump who is the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, has been leading campaigns in New York, Florida and Washington D.C.
The bond agreement signed by Trump’s defense attorney, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and others barred Trump from intimidating 18 co-defendants in the case, witnesses or victims.
“The Defendant shall perform no act to intimidate any person known to him or her to be a codefendant or witness in this case or to otherwise obstruct the administration of justice,” states the order signed by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee. “The above shall include, but are not limited to, posts on social media or reposts of posts made by another individual on social media,” read the order.
Reportedly, Trump had used social media platforms to attack people involved in the criminal cases against him as he campaigns to reclaim the White House in 2024.
Trump now faces 91 charges across four separate criminal cases at a time when is running for president in 2024.
Ahead of Trump's surrender, Fulton County sheriff's staff is facing threats as well. Threats have been made against Fulton County Sheriff's office employees and their homes for the role they will play in the former president's surrender, reported CNN.
Meanwhile, in connection with the election overturning case, Ray Smith, former lawyer for Donald Trump reached a bond agreement of $50,000. Smith faces 12 state crimes including soliciting a public officer to violate their oath, and conspiring to commit forgery.
