TOPSHOT-UKRAINE-RUSSIA-CONFLICT

Ukraine's Ambassador to the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya, on Monday, read out to the UN General Assembly the final text message between a slain Russian soldier and his mother, in which he claimed that the Russian side is targetting even civilians in Ukraine.

Kyslytsya said the messages were recovered from the dead soldier's phone.

"I would like to read these messages from a smartphone of a killed Russian soldier," he said.

"Mama, I am no longer in Crimea, I am not in training sessions."

"Mama I am in Ukraine. There is a real war raging here. I'm afraid. We are bombing all of the cities...even targeting civilians. We were told that they would welcome us, and they are falling under our armored vehicles, throwing themselves under the wheels and not allowing us to pass."

"They call us fascists. Mama, this is so hard.

He said these messages were sent moment's before the soldier's death.

Kyslytsya asked the assembly to visualize the "magnitude" of the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine.

"Imagine next to you, next to every nameplate of every single country in this general assembly, more than 30 souls of killed Russian soldiers already. Next to every name of every single country," he said.
