Greene had opposed vaccines and mask mandates

Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene has joined former US President Donald Trump in being permanently suspended from Twitter. On Sunday, the social media platform suspended her personal account over violations of its COVID-19 misinformation policy.

“We permanently suspended the account you referenced (@mtgreenee) for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy. We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy,” a Twitter spokesperson told The Hill.

Greene, who represents Georgia's 14th congressional district,  had been a prominent anti-vaxxer during the pandemic and had compared mask mandates to the Holocaust. "They're ruining our country, these vaccine Nazis," she said on a podcast hosted by Steve Bannon.

Her account had been suspended before when she tweeted saying the Food and Drug Administration should not approve COVID vaccines as they were “failing” to prevent the spread of the virus.

Her congressional Twitter account remains online.
