A Chinese furniture-maker has made Buddha statues that look like former US president Donald Trump. While Trump may not be known for his calm demeanour, this white-coloured statue of Trump seated like Buddha sure looks serene. The statue is 4.6 metres tall is features "Trump" sitting like Buddha, with his face lowered and hands resting together on his lap, maintaining a calm aura, with eyes shut.

The statue has been listed for sale on the e-commerce site Taobao. The large-sized statue is priced at 3,999 yuan or $614 while a smaller statue is priced at 999 yuan or $153 approximately. The seller of the statue, based in Xiamen is selling the statue with the slogan “Make your company great again!”

Dozens of the statue have been sold.

Relations between China and the US have soured since 2019. The US has imposed several sanctions on China over issues like mistreatment of Uighur Muslims, imposing the National Security law in Hong Kong, which threatens its semi-autonomous state and China’s aggressive stance in the Indo-Pacific area.

China, in February, called for a resent of its relationship with the US and work towards building trust once again. Senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi said the two nations need to hold constructive dialogue for them to work on issues like climate change and the coronavirus pandemic.

"Over the past few years, the US basically cut off bilateral dialogue at all levels. And this was one of the main reasons for the deterioration in China-US relations," Wang Yi said.
