Three policemen have been shot dead, and a fourth wounded, in central France. The incident took place near the village of Puy-de-Dome, when the policemen were responding to a domestic violence incident, the interior ministry said. Search is underway for the person who shot the policemen.
According to the ministry, the policemen were aged 21, 37 and 45.

The officers were attempting to rescue a woman from a domestic violence incident when they were shot by a 48-year-old man involved in the tussle.
The suspect set fire to his house after he shot one officer. He later fired again as reinforcements arrived, killing the other two. The policemen have ben identified as Arno Mavel, Remi Dupuis and Cyrille Morel.
The incident began with a family dispute, when policemen were sent to the scene to evacuate the residents living in the area. The woman, who had taken refuge on the roof of the house, was rescued. Firefighters reached the scene and brought the blaze under control.
