Coronavirus cases in the world have crossed over 200,000, and over 8,000 are dead from COVID-19, according to the latest numbers. Real-time statistics showed that there are currently 202,241 confirmed cases and 8,010 deaths from the COVID-19 outbreak as of Wednesday.

The number of cases that have recovered stand at 82,813.

The outbreak of this strain of the coronavirus has brought the world to a standstill. There has been a spike in COVID-19 cases from March with the number of deaths since then standing at 4,928. Over 109,600 cases have been reported since the beginning of March.

People have been advised to follow preventive measures including social distancing, regular handwashing and self-isolation.

The coronavirus has so far affected 167 countries and territories around the world. China has reported 80,894 cases of the virus with 3,237 deaths. Over 69,600 cases have recovered or have been discharged. Outside of China, Italy has reported the most number of cases at 31,506, followed by Iran at 16,169 and Spain at 13,716.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the COVID-19 a pandemic last week, and are constantly giving updates on the spread of the virus and preventive measures to follow. It also said that Europe was now the “epicentre” of the coronavirus.
